Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

This recipe comes from Marian Cross, a daily recipe subscriber.
"Everyone who has tried these cookies loves them. The best sugar cookie I have ever eaten." 

1 Cup shortening
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 Cup sour cream
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
6 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and roll out desired thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake about 14 minutes at 375 degrees F. Let cool. DO NOT GREASE COOKIE SHEETS!!
