Sourdough Chocolate Cake

1/2 cup thick starter
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup dry milk

Mix these ingredients together and let them sit in a warm place until the mixture smells yeast and a little like sour milk. This will take about 3 hours.

Chocolate Cake
Cream together:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon

One at a time add 2 eggs beating after each addition then stir in 3 squares (1 ounce) melted unsweetened chocolate. Add this creamed mixture to the sourdough mixture and stir 300 strokes with a wooden spoon. Pour into 13x9 pan or an angel food tube pan and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
